How to increase pH Level

Use HTH® Soda Ash or HTH®Alkalinity Up.

Follow pack directions, dilute in bucket of water and pour around sides of the pool with the pump running.

How to decrease pH Level

Use HTH ® Easy Acid.

Don’t add more than 2 cups at a time, dilute in bucket of water and pour around sides of the pool with the pump running.

Wait 4 hours before repeating.

How to increase TA Levels

Use HTH® Alkalinity Up.

Follow pack directions.

With pump off, add to one spot in the deep end.

You can switch pump on after 20 minutes.

Re-test after 12 hours.

Do I need to correct my pH or TA first?

We always recommend that you get your pool blue first so that you can see an improvement in the pool.

Then correct TA.

How do I shock treat?

Use HTH® Shock It or HTH® Super Shock It or 3 cups of HTH® Granular Chlorine.

Remember to adjust your pH before shock treating.

How do I check the stabiliser level in my pool?

Use HTH® Quick Test Strips.

Follow pack directions.

Is stabilising my pool neccessary?

No, it is not necessary.

We recommend that you add stabiliser if you have a large pool and you want to reduce the amount of chlorine that you need to add (reduce cost).

Products like floaters add stabiliser to our pool over a period of time.

We do not recommend stabiliser levels above 50ppm.

How do I get rid of stabiliser if my reading is too high?

There is no product that you can add to remove stabiliser.

You will need to drain a quantity of pool water from your pool.

What is the difference between HTH® Pace Floater™ and HTH® Floater +?

The HTH® Floater + has a built in shock treatment and an Algaecide, both contain a slow release sanitiser and a clarifier.

I am going on holiday, what product should I use in my pool to keep it blue?

Shock treat to boost chlorine, then add a floater.

Remember to correct pH, backwash filter and clear baskets first.

Can HTH® products be used with a salt chlorinator?

Yes, all our products are compatible with a salt chlorinator.

How often should I backwash?

Every 2 weeks or when your Pool Cleaner gets sluggish.

How long do I backwash for?

Backwash for 2 minutes or until water runs clear out the backwash pipe.

Remember to rinse for 20 seconds before filtering.

My chlorine is not working

Check your pH – maintain around 7.2.

My chlorine is not lasting in the pool

Check your pH – maintain around 7.2.

Add chlorine in the early evening.

Consider using slow release chlorine floater.

Is HTH® Granular Chlorine stabilised?

No this is a NON stabilised product.

It’s quick dissolve, fast acting and can be used on its own or in addition to other pool products.

My Chlorine levels are too high? How do I reduce it?

Check that your pool is not overstabilised.

If not, let the chlorine dissipate over the next day or two or drain a portion of water and top up with fresh water.
